Modernish Marvel
A project by Robie J. Wood Architect

About the project
A non-descript colonial was given new life by a client who desired a look that better fit their tastes. The exterior was stripped down with a mix of traditional and modern materials, clean lines and minimal ornament. The interior was opened up to create uninterrupted living space between Dining, Kitchen and Living Room. A new rear deck and pergola completed the assembly.

What this example can help you discuss
A renovation brief can address the inside and outside together. Describe the rooms that feel disconnected and the exterior features you want to change or retain. This example offers a starting point for discussing how layout and appearance can support one overall design; the work needed in your house depends on its existing conditions.
