Your home, your priorities

Make the most of the home you have

For a Verona renovation, the starting point may be an underused room, a crowded kitchen or a home that no longer suits the household. We help explore how changes to the existing plan and carefully considered additions can work together.

Before you choose a direction

Make a list of the rooms you use most and the spaces you tend to avoid. Those observations can help reveal whether a new connection, a changed room arrangement or additional space would best serve your goals.

Modernish Marvel — a project by Robie J. Wood Architect

Modernish Marvel

A non-descript colonial was given new life by a client who desired a look that better fit their tastes. The exterior was stripped down with a mix of traditional and modern materials, clean lines and minimal ornament. The interior was opened up to create uninterrupted living space between Dining, Kitchen and Living Room. A new rear deck and pergola completed the assembly.

Farmhouse Addition — a project by Robie J. Wood Architect

Farmhouse Addition

Smart additions and alterations brought new life to some incongruous past work. An expanded Kitchen connected to a new Mudroom and Garage. A new bright and airy link was established between the Kitchen and existing Family Room for better circulation. A new Second Floor primary suite was seamlessly integrated with a full bathroom.

Plan around your property

A project starts with your goals and the information available about the building and site. Bring a survey, drawings and photographs if you have them, along with any known constraints or previous approvals.

Requirements depend on the property and proposed work. Municipal guidance helps identify what to check; the design and review process should be tailored to the specific project.

From conversation to a clear next step

  1. Share the property location, project goals and available information.
  2. Discuss the scope and which feasibility questions need attention.
  3. Explore design options and agree on the next phase of work.

Questions about your Verona project

Can a renovation improve rooms beyond the main project area?

Yes. A kitchen or family-room project can affect circulation and nearby rooms. Studying the relationships helps identify opportunities and dependencies before the scope is fixed.

Can we talk before we know the exact scope?

Yes. Share the changes you are considering and the questions you have. An initial conversation can help identify the information and design work needed to move forward.

How are fees and timing established?

They depend on the scope, existing conditions, design work and any review process involved. Discuss your goals and timing with the studio so the proposal can reflect the actual project.
