Your home, your priorities

A renovation brief grounded in the right property

Planning an addition or renovation in Chatham starts with understanding both the existing home and your goals. We help explore how new space could connect with the building, from a kitchen expansion to a more comprehensive alteration.

Before you choose a direction

Please identify whether the property is in Chatham Borough or Chatham Township when you contact us. The distinction matters when finding the right municipal information. A survey and any existing plans will help frame the first discussion.

Farmhouse Addition — a project by Robie J. Wood Architect

Farmhouse Addition

Smart additions and alterations brought new life to some incongruous past work. An expanded Kitchen connected to a new Mudroom and Garage. A new bright and airy link was established between the Kitchen and existing Family Room for better circulation. A new Second Floor primary suite was seamlessly integrated with a full bathroom.

Plan around your property

A project starts with your goals and the information available about the building and site. Bring a survey, drawings and photographs if you have them, along with any known constraints or previous approvals.

Requirements depend on the property and proposed work. Municipal guidance helps identify what to check; the design and review process should be tailored to the specific project.
